I’m  David Michael Boje  and together with Grace Ann Rosile we developed ENTREPRENEUR'S STORYTELLING  PLAYBOOK as a way to change conversations at home and in your business adventure

Did you know 90% of startups fail—not because of bad products, but because they fail to connect with their customers? That's exactly what happened to me. I watched my dad, a great entrepreneur do start-ups that would fail, again and again. I was sad watching him fail. So, I dedicated my life to helping entrepreneurs tell their stories.  With Grace Ann Rosile, Ph.D. we started The Entrepreneur's Storytelling Playbook."

"The Entrepreneur's Storytelling Playbook" teaches entrepreneurs how to use storytelling to improve their businesses. It's about embracing your uniqueness and practicing letting that shine through in your story. It's about turning that storytelling muscle into your superpower. The Playbook isn't about formal pitches. Having a Playbook is about everything you do as an entrepreneur.

Building your own Playbook is about (1) your brand, (2) your customer experience, (3) your social media presence, and (4) learning how everything you do tells a story.

The Entrepreneur's Storytelling Playbook emphasizes the importance of connecting with audiences on an emotional level, providing a structured framework—including a hook, hero's journey, mission, and call to action—for crafting compelling narratives.

I want to share a secret I learned that propelled me into success in storytelling consulting.

Elenaor Bregand taught me the secret formula of
          storytelling

Storytelling Consulting Formula = Rhythm plus Contrast, with Emphasis, in Harmony and Balance. I applied this formula created a business, and when I returned to teaching, became university teacher of the year, six years in a row.  I turned to storytelling in all my pursuits. I leaned into it.

The Playbook includes you crafting examples of your successful entrepreneurial stories and offers advice on what to do and avoid when telling one's own story. The overall message is that when you are an entrepreneur, telling a well-told story is a powerful tool for attracting customers, and investors and building a brand. Our Playbook approach encourages you the entrepreneur to develop your own stories to address your audience’s concerns. Don't make it all about you. Center on the audience. How your product or services solves a problem for them. Storytelling is about creating a connection."

"The Entrepreneur's Storytelling Playbook," teaches entrepreneurs how to use storytelling to improve their businesses.

What is Business Storytelling in Entrepreneurship?

"Business storytelling" in entrepreneurship refers to the practice of using narrative and personal anecdotes to communicate a company's vision, mission, and value proposition to potential investors, customers, and stakeholders, creating a deeper connection and understanding beyond just facts and figures, ultimately helping to build trust and excitement around the entrepreneurial venture.

The Entrepreneur's Storytelling Playbook provides a hands-on approach to using storytelling for business success. Here are five advantages of using such a playbook:

  1. Enhanced Emotional Connection with the Audience:
Storytelling fosters a deeper bond with customers, stakeholders, or team members by appealing to emotions, making the brand relatable and memorable.

  2. Improved Brand Differentiation:
A compelling story helps distinguish a business from competitors by highlighting unique aspects of its journey, mission, or values, which resonate more than generic messaging.

  3. Increased Engagement and Retention:
Stories capture attention and are easier to remember than facts or statistics alone, ensuring that the target audience remains engaged with the brand message.

  4. Simplified Complex Ideas:
Entrepreneurs can use storytelling to break down complex concepts, products, or services into narratives that are easier for the audience to understand and relate to.

  5. Stronger Team and Culture Building:
Internally, storytelling fosters a sense of purpose and alignment among employees, reinforcing the company’s mission and encouraging collaboration.

Key aspects of business storytelling in entrepreneurship:

  1. * Personal connection:
Sharing the founder's personal story, challenges faced, motivations, and "why" behind the business idea to make it relatable and resonate with the audience.

  2. * Problem-solution narrative:
Clearly outline the problem your business addresses, the unique solution you provide, and the positive impact it will have on the target market.

  3. * Emotional engagement:
Using storytelling techniques to evoke emotions like hope, inspiration, or urgency to capture the audience's attention and interest.

  4. * Authenticity:
Presenting a genuine and transparent story that aligns with the company's values and brand identity.
