Organizations as Phrog Farms by Jerry Harvey (1977) is your first reading to use for your homework

Phrog Farms (aka THE LEMMING EFFECT) is the opposite of Ensemble Leadership, self-empowering leadership and what Mary Parker Follett calls letting the Situation be the Invisible Leader.

Lemming Effect

Lemming Effect of In-The-Box Leadership

LEMMING EFFECT - A lemming (part of superfamily Muriodea that includes small rodent in or near Arctic, voles, muskrats, rats, gerbils, and hamsters) just follows along even when the situation is dangerous. The ‘Lemming Effect’ occurs in human kind when a majority of our peers are conditioned to just go along with the flow of the larger group, rather than risking any independent thought or action. The Lemming Effect is named after the popular myth of lemmings exhibiting herd behavior, being under a hypnotic spell, so much so that they follow each other even when it leads them into situations, even over a cliff that could cost them their lives.

Opening Theatric Exercise" "one actor starts telling a story, which is continued by a second actor, and so on till the whole group has contributed a part of it" (Boal Game 19, p. 85).

Many ENSEMBLE LEADERSHIP Teams are formed today: If there are 50 students we form 10 teams of 5 students each;

Project Guidelines for Implementing of the 17 UN Sustainability Goals

DO TEAM FROM HELL EXERCISE, If there are 100 students we form 20 teams of 5 students each and do 2 team events per class session after the introduction weeks are done.

What are the 7 True Storytelling Principles?http://truestorytelling.org

    1. Truth: You yourself must be true and prepare the energy and effort for a sustainable future
    2. Make room: True storytelling makes spaces respecting the stories already there
    3. Plot: You must create stories with a clear plot creating direction and help people prioritize
    4. Timing: You must have timing
    5. Help stories along: You must be able to help stories on their way and be open to experiment
    6. Staging: You must consider staging including scenography and artifacts
    7. Reflection: You must reflect on the stories and how they create value

7 Qualities of True Storytelling

Step Three: Interactive Activity

We will do Principle 1, 2, & 3 of True Storytelling: what is the truth of recycling in all six colleges. We will divide into six groups, take separate field trips to the colleges, and inventory the exact location of the Big Blue Bins on wheels and the plastic bottle/aluminum can recycle bins (what building, what floor, exact location), and in any open classroom, what recycling bins (perhaps those small one foot blue bins are there or not) on what floor, in what room number, in what building. Return to class and answer the question: Principle 1: Does NMSU have energy and effort for a sustainable future (in its recycling)? Principle 2: Makes spaces for respecting the [recycling] stories [at NMSU] already there {in each college]. Principle 3: Plot: You must create stories with a clear plot creating direction and help people prioritize[as leaders, create a clear plot creating direction and help people [at NMSU prioritize ways of solving the global recycling crisis].

Step Four: + and - for today

Step Five: fill out evaluation of today's event

Step Six: presenting team does not do homework today (due next week) since they help grade what comes in.
